Hello again! Well with only 6 months to go until the wedding, It’s really starting to feel like the countdown has officially begun.
I actually got quite a lot done this month including the florist I was telling you about last time, Designer Wedding Flowers. The lady I met with (Mandy) was really lovely. Her portfolio was amazing and she really understood the look I wanted. We pretty much already decided on everything from the bouquets to the reception, the colours, the flowers and most of all, the theme.
She is amazing! And speaking of Mandy, it turns out that she was looking to expand her business by creating wedding invitations which was great for me because she took a liking to my invitations and asked me if I would let her make a mock up of my ideas. Because the invitations I wanted to design were made of raw silk and a few other rare features, there were only a few invitation places in Sydney that would make them but at a costly $25.00 each (not including the R.S.V.P, Map and save the date) so when Mandy asked me I had no hesitation. To my surprise, she managed to pull it off better then I expected and at half the price! I couldn’t believe how well she did so now not only will she be doing our flowers and invites but she will also be doing the R.S.V.P, Save the date’s, the map, the church booklet’s and the menu’s! lol, it helps to have a florist that you trust and one that has the same taste as you.
When talking about the flowers for the reception, Tim and I decided that we wanted to add a 6-point tier with fairy lights to hang from the ceiling of Loxley, specifically to add to the ambience of the occasion and to make it look a bit more “wedding” so we contacted a company called All Covered Events, they helped us out with not only the 6-point tier but also with our tables. Unfortunately I actually found out that our reception venue Loxley do not supply round tables for their venue, we only had a choice of Long or oval which just does not look that good to me, so All covered will be supplying us with the 6-point tier, the tables and also the linen for the round tables. Unfortunately because we didn’t check with Loxley if they had round tables before we booked, we are now up for about $500.00 more worth of Linen and tables, but honestly I think we would have booked Loxley regardless because it is just so beautiful.
Moving on… If you didn’t already know, I am actually born in Ireland! Which made it very hard for me when the priest from the church asked me to supply him with an updated copy of my baptismal certificate. Yep, not only did I need an updated copy of that but Tim and I both also needed updated copies of our confirmation certificates, so for all the brides out there not born in Australia, make sure you have this or can get this before you decide that you would like a church ceremony because I had to contact my family In Ireland and my uncle had to drive 6 hours from Cork to Dublin to the small church I was baptised in to get a copy and then had to send it to me. I received it last week thank God! But it’s a lot of hassle and lucky I had family over there that could do that for me or it would have made it really hard to do.
Anyway on a much brighter note, I have purchased my earrings and my shoes!!! YEY!! I fell in love with a pair of Swarovski crystal earrings and brought them straight away and my shoes I found at Garry Castles in the city, they are the cutest shoes I have ever seen in my life!! Both the earrings and the shoes go great with each other, and they both match the broaches on the bridesmaid’s dresses. All made with crystal and absolutely stunning!
Next up we met with the cake designers, Sweet Art in Paddington. Their cakes were not only DELICIOUS but also the detail on the cakes was impeccable! We ended up sampling and choosing our cake, the design will obviously be decided upon later. The plan is to match the pattern used on our wedding invitations to the cake, but this has not yet been decided upon so when we decide on the pattern, all we have to do is give the pattern to cake art and they will replica it onto the cake!
Well in a nutshell, there is still a lot of things to decide upon and do, at the moment my Florist/invitation maker has asked me to decide on the wording for the wedding invitations, RSVP and the save the date. She has recommended a few so Tim and I will be looking into this on the weekend. Not only that but I have only JUST received the material samples for the bridesmaids dresses and I have also pinched one of the broaches off the dresses so I can match up the bridesmaids jewellery and shoes etc so I will be looking into this on the weekend also.
Anyway, big weekend ahead and lots to do so I better go.
Until next time.
