OK - we had a bit of a dillema for the date. I am getting married on the 15th
Nov 2008.
I checked the Bureau of Meteorology website and it said it's rained on
the 15th Nov for the last 10 years apart from last year.
So I was really
starting to stress the week before the 15th Nov 2007. So I phoned up the Sydney
Glass Island and wanted to know if the 1st weekend in December was available.
Unfortunately it's already booked out. The only date available was the
following weekend in November or in Jan. We didnt want to push it back til the
following year. I waited anxiously for the 15th Nov 2007 to come around and said
if it rains on the 15th than I am changing the date. But it was beautiful and
sunny on the 15th...my nerves were at ease!!
I tried on the most
beautiful dress....I kept seeing it in the window when I was driving past and
finally though..that's it! I am going to have a look. I invited my sister and my
mum to come up and have a girls day....I like the traditional dress- the
princess dress. I also wanted something alittle different aswell!! My sister
kept picking out different styles and getting angry when I didn't like them. I
got the "Well why am I here if you don't like anything I pick out" Good Point!
So the next time I went shopping...I went on my own! This way I can't offend
anyone and I can wear what I like! I went back to the shop and ended up putting
a deposit down on "the dress in the window." 1 Thing down 50 more to go!!!
I
put a deposit down on a wishing well. Its a lovely white well with a square box
& silver heart in the middle. It's simple & cute.
Had a bit of
a dilemma with a bridesmaid......the role was kind of assumed from her side when
I told her I got engaged. I didn't officially ask her. We never really see each
other so I sort of said her being my only bridesmaid in Sydney she needs to kind
of pull her finger out and start helping me out. My 3 other bridesmaid live 2
1/2 hours away. She said she couldn't give me what I wanted (support!) so we
mutually agreed she wouldn't be a bridesmaid! So now I am 1 bridesmaid short. I
have friends that can fill the role but I dont want to rush into it and make
anyone feel like they are 2nd option. I also want to pick the perfect person!
I arranged my Save the Date cards from www.stationeryonline.com.au I
really really wanted magnets and something original designed. They designed up
the most gorgeous magnet and it cost me about $2.50 with envelopes! I am now
tossing up if I should get them to make my invitations or do it myself. I like
the stressless way of having someone else do it if I can!!
I have
started looking for bridesmaid dresses.....which is great fun considering my
sister has just fallen pregnant and my bridesmaids all have such different body
shapes!!! Quite interesting!!! I like the thin strap or strapless and then cut
off just after the knee. A shorter length dress will be much better on a boat!!
Choosing a colour is funny. 1 week I like Tiffany green- 'Sea Mist' and the next
week I like a burnt orange colour and then the next week I like pink. So far I
am sticking with Pink. Wait till next week it will be something else...!!!
I
got the table decorations for the boat. They are champagne flute candles from
Dusk (most Westfields have the candle shop) and they are frosted and have a
silver heart on the front. Also got the Motiv little tea light candle holders.
They are glittery silver and look really pretty when there is a candle inside.
Thinking about the tiffany colour for the table runners- only if I dont go with
the dresses that are that colour. I dont want my bridesmaids to blend with the
tables!
I think thats all for now!! Bridal expo on the 2nd so looking
forward to getting some hints and tips there!
