There is no limit to the variety of modern-day wedding accessories - and these will add the finishing touches that will make your wedding event truly special.

Stationery
The invitation announces your wedding to your invited guests and ideally reflects the wedding's style - plain and simple or elaborate, formal and stylish.

Many brides like to co-ordinate their stationery - invitations, thank you cards, name cards and menu cards for the reception table as well as the wedding program.

Stationery ranges from the expensive to the simple and inexpensive. Wedding stationers and designers have a huge range of stationery to cover all your needs and to suit your taste and budget.

Printed invitations can be embossed, engraved or mass printed. Choose from lovely handmade paper, thick, luxurious paper, gold-flecked paper, recycled paper or parchment.

For those on a tighter budget, do-it-yourself stationery kits are available from your stationer.

The wording of the invitations can be formal or less-formal, depending on the style of your wedding. Either way, the information on the invitations needs to be clear. Who is getting married, where, when and what time, plus details of the reception. Include a date for sending the RSVP and details of where to send it. The dress code of the wedding can also be included.

Your stationer will have some examples to help you decide exactly what to say.

Remember to proof read the invitations carefully to ensure no typographical errors and that all dates, times and addresses of venues are correct.

Decorations
At your reception create the atmosphere you have always dreamed of. Let your imagination run riot as you select decorations that will transform your venue into a stylish, dramatic or romantic setting.

Decorate with fairy lights, candelabras, chair covers with sashes in a multitude of colours, back drops, topiary trees, balloons and arches. For the tables select crisp linen, overlays, floating candle bowls, storm shades, candelabra entwined with vines or flowers, or candles in every colour of the rainbow. Decorations for your wedding are limited only by your imagination and a professional decorating company will help turn your dreams into a reality.

Favours

An European tradition becoming increasingly popular in Australia is bomboniere or literally 'sweet favours'.

Traditional bomboniere is a clutch of sugared almonds. They are usually white or pastel coloured or even gold and are wrapped in a paper doily.

The tradition of giving bomboniere represents fertility, health, wealth, luck and happiness. According to the tradition, the almonds were given to each of the female guests at the wedding.

Usually, bomboniere is left on the reception tables for the guests to take home. Modern interpretations of bomboniere can include small cakes the size of petit fours, chocolates and other sweets. It can also include take-home candles and even small presents such as an engraved champagne glass in memory of the occasion or bottles filled with bathsalts or potpourri.
