Videography Print E-mail

A video of your wedding is just as important as the photographs. A video will capture all the moments that you missed on the day, and with the addition of images from your childhood and honeymoon, will become a special record of not just your wedding day, but of yourselves.

Photo by Stuart Leal PhotographyTo find the videographer who is right for you and who offers you the inclusions you want at the price you can afford, you?ll need with meet with a number of videographers. Make sure you watch their sample DVDs, read any testimonials from other couples and ask them questions. Most importantly, ensure the videographer is experienced in weddings and is equipped with professional cameras for high-quality picture and sound recording and offers a portable or wireless microphone so every word of your vows and the speeches is recorded.

Just like photography, the current trend is for natural and candid videography with the videographer working in the background capturing the day as it progresses. Wedding videos these days are like a film clip of your life, opening with a montage of baby and childhood photos, perhaps some images of special times together before the wedding and images from your engagement party, all to a soundtrack of your favourite music.

There is an endless variety of packages offered and most will cover the preparations at the bride and groom's homes, the ceremony, photo session, arrival of the bridal party, table settings and the atmosphere of the reception room, speeches, cake cutting, throwing of the garter and bouquet and your first dance.

Extras may include a two-camera coverage, individually designed DVD labels, cases and boxes, post-reception night shoots, master tapes on digital mini DV or extra DVDs with only the highlights.
Special effects may be included, resulting in a truly professional, movie-style video. Ask about slow motion, black & white, multi-screens or inserts.

Your video should also come with a scene selection menu so you can easily view the individual chapters without the need to run through the whole video.

A surprising amount of work is done in post production to produce a video of two to three hours with ten to 20 minutes of highlights. This will be reflected in the price charged as your videographer may need to edit up to ten hours of video coverage to produce the final product.

And to keep it all safe, ensure the video is backed-up correctly so this record of your wedding day lasts forever.
