Wedding gifts PDF Print E-mail

Many couples compile a list of their dream gifts to help their guests choose the bridal gifts they will buy.  Guests can then choose something they know the bridal couple want and avoid duplicating gifts from other guests.

And it gives the bridal couple an opportunity to build up complete sets of china, glassware, silverware or linen as guests can purchase separate pieces or individual settings depending on their budget.

Bridal lists can be arranged at the bridal registry of most major department stores  and some specialty stores.  Guests can then purchase gifts from the registry by visiting  the store, by phone or online.  Alternatively a honeymoon registry can be arranged with a travel agent or a new idea is a gift voucher, which the bridal couple can use however  they wish. If you don't want to register, an informal list can be left with the bride's mother or a member of the bridal party for guests who ask for gift suggestions.

When choosing the list, select items within a wide price range so that it is affordable for all your guests. Also select plenty of items so that your guests have a choice.  To let your guests know about your bridal list enclose a small, discreet, registry card with your invitation.

Gifts can be delivered to the bride's home before the wedding, or brought to the reception. Gift vouchers can also be brought to the reception, a lot more secure than envelopes of cash. Arrangements will need to be made for a gift table at the reception venue, and for someone to take the gifts home after the reception and deliver them to the bridal couple's home.

Thank you cards for gifts received before the wedding should be sent out within two weeks of the gift's arrival and for other gifts, within a month of returning from your honeymoon. Personalise each thank you card by writing a few words about the gift, and if the gift was money mention how you are planning to spend it.
